4-2-1 HOUSE. for the ordos 100

Invited by the artist Ai Wei Wei and Jacque Herzog for a masterplan called Ordos 100 - each villa designed by 100 architects - our design strategy is a monolith developed on a landscape of cascading terraces. All terraced edges are vectors that have an origin, a direction, and a magnitude. As such, they produce a cross product. These vectors create a vertical field that organize a house with a collection of slabs that unfold.

House 4-2-1 is a bifurcation of four to two to one that progresses from the ground, where there are four separate towers that climb upward to two towers and combine into the final, single level.
